Perlmutter Architect is a professional LLC located in Tryon, North Carolina. Dick Perlmutter is a registered architect in the states of North Carolina and New York.
We work to meet the needs and desires of our clients while also reflecting the contemporary spirit. The specific character of each site in its community, the historic precedents of our mountain region, and the honest use of natural materials are equal contributors in our response to each design.
Mr. Perlmutter has deep and broad experience in residential, commercial, and institutional architecture, including facilities for nonprofit and educational organizations; custom single-family homes; and mixed-use, retail, and hospitality developments. He has a special interest and expertise in restoration and repurposing of historic properties and implementation of the requirements of State and Federal Historic Tax Credit programs.
Prior establishing his own practice, Perlmutter was a designer, project manager, and construction administrator for several prominent firms, including Arquitectonica, Spillis Candela & Partners (AECOM), R.J. Heisenbottle Architects, and Little. He studied under and worked in the studios of Rem Koolhaas/OMA and Zaha Hadid.
In addition to his practice, he currently serves as a senior assessor for Partner Engineering and Science, Inc., analyzing and evaluating construction contract documents and monitoring jobsite progress on behalf of commercial lenders and equity investors.
